As some of you already know, in 2014 Birba was awarded the Girona Excel·lent quality seal which is presented by Girona Provincial Council and the Chamber of Commerce to promote the best products in Girona province.
Specifically, the award-winning product was Ametllats, one of the firm’s flagship products as it is one of our most traditional as well as lactose-free and suitable for coeliacs.
To talk about it, last summer we went along to the online programme País en ruta (see the full story here). And a few days ago we visited the radio programme Deixa’m tastar on Cadena Ser Catalunya, a food show presented by Xènia Roset and Marc Orozco which looks at Catalonia’s culinary heritage.
This time round they interviewed our marketing manager, Mª Ángeles Moreno. They talked about Birba’s beginnings and history, our handcraft processes and the natural ingredients we use, our biscuit varieties and ranges, the new tin for our 125th anniversary featuring an adaptation of an old original print (see the print here), our select chocolate assortment, our Nuria biscuits, etc., which are always palm oil free.

We’d like to pick out one of our marketing manager’s comments in this interview:
“In the 21st century it’s hard to find products which have remained true to traditional natural ingredients without preservatives or artificial colouring. Sometimes, modernity is about not innovating where it’s not needed.”
